Our goals should be obtainable within a reasonable amount of time. Six to twelve months time is a realistic time frame,

not 18 months, and that goal should be High Performance! KC

I am often asked to show barefoot performance horses. Below are a number of horses that race shoeless. Some only shoeless up front, but shoeless none the less.

There has been great success in the United States.

Dear KC,
I'm a Maryland based thoroughbred racehorse trainer.  We met and chatted at
the Horse Expo last January in Timonium.  I told you about the success I was
having keeping all my racehorses barefoot up front.
Please feel free to use me as a testament to your philosophies and keep me
in mind if someone comes along looking for a trainer who is willing to race
them barefoot here in the U.S.--both on the flat and over jumps.  Also, I'd
be happy to discuss my approach in an interview if you're ever looking for
some additional Newsletter copy...

Thanks, and it was a big thrill getting the opportunity to chat with you one
on one!
All the best!

Explanation

Saucy Night arrived with a host of problems and about to be retired from racing. His previous record was of being beaten by on average 50 lengths per race and having never finished ahead of a horse in any of his races. Saucy was the first horse to participate in our barefoot program. Since going shoeless both his damaged tendons have been perfect. His incredible racing record since speaks for itself. According to Timeform and Racing Post Ratings he was one of the most improved horses in training last season.

Nutritional plan

Saucy was always a difficult horse to keep weight on but he has responded very well to the new regime of four feeds a day.

Exercise plan

Saucy's successful transition from shod to barefoot involved a carefully planned program of progressive exercise and ongoing hoof trimming. Saucy uses the Seawalker ,Softwalker and pebble walker regularly to improve the concavity and strength of his hooves. We also uses imported glucosamine gel to strengthen and improve hoof growth.

Performance

Saucy has already proved he can run barefoot on good or very soft going. He will race this summer over both hurdles and fences and we are confident he will be equally effective on good to firm.

Trainers comments

He is one of the most transformed horses I've ever been involved with and I actually believe the best is still yet to come. When AP got off him at Fontwell and said he wished he could ride horses like Saucy everyday it was a great accolade to the horse and everyone involved in getting right.
